Wildfire smoke prompts air quality statements across much of northwestern Ontario Sunday

Conditions expected to improve Sunday evening

Much of northwestern Ontario is under a special air quality statement due to wildfire smoke from the Canadian Prairies. 

The statement was issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada on Sunday. Areas affected include:

  • City of Thunder Bay
  • Dryden – Ignace
  • Fort Frances – Rainy Lake
  • Fort Hope – Webequie
  • Geraldton – Manitouwadge – Hornepayne
  • Kenora – Nestor Falls
  • Lake Nipigon – Wabakimi
  • Nipigon - Marathon – Superior North
  • Pickle Lake – Wunnummin Lake
  • Red Lake – Ear Falls
  • Sioux Lookout – Savant La…
