Last year, Sharon Saji came to Thunder Bay, Ont., from Dubai feeling both excited and afraid of the journey ahead of her.

Now, she's part of Lakehead University's global ambassador program and is helping other international students adjust to life in the northwestern Ontario city.

"People were so nice when I came in, so I just wanted to be part of a team that is welcoming and helping the new students around," said Saji, who is completing a masters degree in business.
