A date has been announced for an inquest into the death of a man at the Lac des Iles Mine northwest of Thunder Bay, Ont.

Edouard Gallant, 64, died on May 27, 2020 at the mine after being struck by blasted ore soaked with concrete, known as a run of muck.

Kevin Miller, regional supervising coroner for the north region, announced on Tuesday that the inquest into Gallant's death will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 22 via video conference.
